The national executives of the Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) on thursday 28th July, 2022 paid a visit to Sagong a Konkomba farming community in the Chereponi district of the North East region of Ghana.
The visit was a follow up visit after that of 26th July, 2022.
The visit was to donate some relief items to the people of Sagong and assure them of the unflinching support of KOYA in their fight for justice on the unprovoked attack on their community.
In an address to the people of sagong the national President Jawol B Titus, encouraged them to remain peaceful and place their trust in the security agencies as KOYA works in collaboration with them to bring the perpetrators to book.
He also told them, KOYA was going to explore all legal and legitimate means available to make sure the criminals who attacked Sagong are brought to book and also use those criminals to serve as deterrent to others.
In a media address, the general secretary of Konkomba Youth Association Mr. Elvis Poliyeh Nagbja, reiterated the call for them to remain calm and to collaborate with the security agencies in their investigations and to also, volunteer information that could lead to unravelling the truth and to get justice for the people of Sagong.
He also called on government, Non- governmental Organisations (NGOs), Co-operate Ghana, National Disaster Management Organization (NADOM), philanthropists and individuals to come to the aid of the people of Sagong as their livelihoods were lost in the raid by the Anufos of Gbalo in the Chereponi district of the North East region of Ghana.
Brief History
Sagong, a Konkomba farming community located in Chereponi district in the North-East region of Ghana, was on 25th July 2022, raided by the Anufo people of Gbalo a neighbouring community, also, in the Chereponi district of the North-East region region of Ghana.
The raid however, unprovoked, saw about 17 houses set ablaze, farms destroyed with weedicide, livestock stolen and killed and graves desecrated. Personnel of the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies have however, been stationed at Sagong.
