Re: Teiya’s week 2 perfomance on the 2022 TV3 GMB on 31st July, 2022; KOUA’s reaction to the distortion of historical facts in Teiya’s performance on the TV3 GMB platform.

Re: TEIYA’S WEEK 2 PERFORMANCE ON THE 2022 TV3 GHANA’S MOST BEAUTIFUL

We regret that we are reaching out to you, TV3 of Media General under this unfortunate circumstances.

We have always revered TV3, believing in your slogan “First in News, Best in Entertainment” and have also always believed that you were one of the most credible and authentic sources in the media space. But the week 2 performance of Teiya of the 2022 TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful casts a shadow of doubt on the capability, ability and professionalism of the producer of the TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful programme.

While acknowledging the efforts of TV3 in wanting to showcase culture and history through the GMB programme, it is unfortunate to note that the producer of the GMB programme do not ensure due diligence in fact-checking the presentations of the contestants before their performance. This is clearly evident in Teiya’s performance on the 31st July, 2022.

The distortion in the purported history presented by Teiya leaves a lot of questions on the credibility of the organizers of the Ghana’s Most Beautiful programme.

SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT.

  1. It must be stated that, the Konkombas have never been enslaved by any other tribe talk less of even being captured and sold as slaves.
  2. The Konkombas and the Basares are sister tribes of the larger Gurma ethnic group and never in the history of both tribes have the Konkombas and the Basares gone to war where one tribe defeated and enslaved the other.
  3. Whether the Dagombas and the Basares engaged in some wars in the past, history would be the best judge. Whether the Dagombas defeated the Basares or otherwise, that is also an issue for history to judge. But it must be stated clearly that the Dagombas and the Basares have never been engaged in any war because of the Konkombas.
  4. The Konkomba people have always been capable of fighting their own war (if need be) and have never needed the help of any other tribe to fight their wars. So, for Teiya to claim that the Dagombas went to war against the Basares to liberate the Konkombas is a total fabrication and it is very unfortunate that a reputable media giant such as TV3 allowed this fabrication and distortion to be propagated on your GMB. This casts an irreparable dent on the integrity of the Media General group.
  5. We also want to encourage the handlers of Teiya to be professional in their duties to her instead of wanting to use the young promising lady and the TV3 GMB platform to preach their diabolic, distorted and fabricated falsehood they call history.
  6. Teiya and her handlers must know that it was the Konkombas who came to the rescue of the Dagombas in the famous Battle of Adibo, after the Germans had killed and scattered the remains of the Dagomba warlord beyond recognition; this, the Dagombas seldom say. The Dagombas have always claimed that their warlord vanished during the war. But what kind of warlord vanishes and leaves his combatants on the battle field in the middle of a war and never returns?
  7. The handlers of Teiya are also encouraged to tell her about the 1940 Jagbel War; maybe she might want to make a presentation on that in her next performance.
  8. If one was to think widely, would it not be contradictory that Teiya has been coached to say on a national television like yours, that Konkombas are the patrilineal lineage of both Naa Abudu and Naa Andani yet the Dagombas claim the Konkombas have no claim to Chaar (Yendi)?

Finally, we want to entreat the producers and managers of the TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful programme to always do due diligence to ensure that the TV3 GMB platform is not used to mislead and misinform the Ghanaian Public.

Thank you.
