KOYA CALLS FOR CALM.

In the wake of tension and social media animosity in Northern Ghana, the Konkomba Youth Association in a press release issued today, 27th June, 2023, calls on people within and outside Northern Ghana to refrain from using social media as a platform for warmongering and spreading hate. Adding that while social media can be a powerful tool for communication and information-sharing, it can also be misused to spread messages of violence, aggression, and division.

KOYA also encourages people to use appropriate protocols to channel their concerns and grievances instead of resorting to hateful speech and violent threats on social media. It is important to understand that our fellow citizens and leaders need to hear our opinions and views, but there is no place for hatred and hostility.

The presser also acknowledges the pivotal role of social media companies in curbing online hate speech and misinformation and calls upon social media companies to take a proactive step to combat online hate and misinformation and to ensure a safe and respectful platform for users.

KOYA invites individuals, organizations, and leadership of ethnic groups to embrace peace, mutual respect, and understanding and to use appropriate means to raise concerns and grievances.
