2ND MINI-CONVENTION OF THE KONKOMBA YOUTH ASSOCIATION-KOYA, TEMAA 2024.

From June 27th to 29th, 2024, the Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) held its 2nd Mini Convention in the North-East Region, themed “Harmony in Diversity: Building a Peaceful and Tolerant Community for Sustainable Development.” This convention took place across three communities: Temaa, Namong, and Nasuan. It brought together the Konkomba, Bimoba, and Mamprusi communities, who participated in non-competitive football matches to advocate for inter-ethnic peace and tolerance and also to symbolize inter-ethnic unity not only within the region but across the nation.

Additionally, there were artiste night and cultural displays showcasing the diversity of the Konkomba community, fostering socialization among participants from different parts of the country such as Kpassa, Kpandai, Chamba, Saboba, and Gushegu and others.

A significant part of the convention was the General Assembly, where Konkomba Chiefs, Assembly members, Opinion Leaders, and Stakeholders deliberated on issues of peace and tolerance. Key discussions focused on measures to address inter-ethnic and intra-ethnic chieftaincy and land disputes. KOYA also presented its ongoing developmental projects.

The final day, June 29th, featured a grand durbar attended by invited guests who shared their insights on the theme. Notable speakers included the Regional Minister (Guest of Honour), the Member of Parliament for the Yunyoo-Nasuan Constituency, the District Chief Executive of the Yunyoo-Nasuan District, and the National Vice Chairman of the NDC.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this Mini Convention, including our sponsors, chiefs, the North-East Regional Coordinator of KOYA, Charles Nigarim, and his team. We also thank our esteemed guests for their thoughtful contributions and donations.

We look forward to seeing you at the 3rd Mini Convention, details of which will be communicated soon.
