KONKOMBA YOUTH ASSOCIATION (KOYA) ANNOUNCES ITS 48th ANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION IN SABOBA, NORTHERN GHANA, CELEBRATING KONKOMBA CULTURAL IDENTITY. Saboba 2025

The Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) is pleased to announce the 48th Annual National Convention, scheduled to take place from the 9th to the 12th of April 2025 in Saboba, Northern Ghana. This year’s convention is themed “Honouring Our Ancestors, Inspiring the Next Generation: The Future of Konkomba Cultural Identity.”

As a community-driven organization committed to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Konkomba people, KOYA recognizes the significance of our history in shaping our future. This convention will serve as a vital platform to honour the legacy of our ancestors while empowering the younger generation to embrace, celebrate, and sustain Konkomba traditions in an evolving world.

The 48th Annual National Convention will feature a variety of engaging activities, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. Esteemed speakers, cultural historians, traditional leaders, and youth advocates will lead discussions on topics such as:

  • The Role of Oral Traditions in Preserving Konkomba History
  • Traditional Governance and Its Relevance in Contemporary Society
  • The Influence of Ancestral Wisdom on Modern Leadership
  • Language Preservation and Indigenous Knowledge Systems
  • The Role of Youth in Safeguarding Konkomba Cultural Identity

Through these discussions, KOYA aims to foster a renewed appreciation for our ancestral values and cultural practices while exploring innovative ways to integrate them into modern society. The event will also include cultural performances, traditional drumming and dance and storytelling sessions, providing a holistic experience of our vibrant heritage.

Saboba, a town deeply rooted in Konkomba history, is once again the perfect setting for this year’s convention. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local communities, witness traditional ceremonies, and participate in activities that strengthen their connection to their roots.
